Hi, I'm Karina!

The Early Years

As a child I formed various unhealthy beliefs around not being good enough, being unlovable and insignificant. I spent many years hiding in the shadows of life, not really understanding who I was or how to show up in the world. I felt EVERYTHING deeply, yet I had no idea how to process all these intense emotions, so I just held them all within and pushed them deep, deep down!

My life right now...

I have spent many years seeking who I really am, and my life is unrecognisable today. Today I have a vastly different relationship with myself. One which is built around self-respect, kindness, and compassion. I have come to love and honour who I am and learnt that I was always enough!

Having healed from the many layers of the past, I am no longer weighed down by the old stories, labels and limiting beliefs that were holding me back in life, allowing me to grow into a more expansive version of myself. Having a healthier and deeper connection with myself allows me to have a healthier and deeper connection with others. I now live life on my terms and say ‘no’ to things that are not in alignment with who I am. Learning to love myself has bought many wonderful benefits and this is reflected in my wellbeing, my health, my relationships, my career and being a parent.

Today, I have joy, freedom, and purpose in my life as I continue this journey to expand and grow as an individual. Don’t get me wrong, my journey has not been easy, but this is what I am truly dedicated to, as it led me to finding my true purpose in helping others to overcome their past trauma, barriers, and illusions so they can step into their truth and authentic power!

The Breaking Point

This all came to a head in my mid 30’s where, by this time I had formed many unhealthy coping strategies, including numbing myself with alcohol. Life was too painful, challenging, and difficult, so I sought escapism which led to some poor life choices and self-destructive patterns.

My life was not led authentically because I simply did not know how to just be myself. I was seeking acceptance and approval from others hoping to find some shred of self-worth. However, it often led to disappointment and resentment. Eventually, I hit my lowest point where I felt utterly broken, empty and worthless. I was consumed with shame and guilt and had come to despise myself on a deep level. I was full of fear, anxiety and my life felt a complete mess!

I had reached a crossroad where I could continue down this path (which would lead nowhere positive) or ask for help so I could start my journey of recovery. Reaching out for help terrified me but thankfully with enough pain, I chose the latter and that is where my journey of self-discovery began. There is nothing like a rock bottom to wake you up!

I threw myself into getting better through support, reading self-help books, spiritual practices, therapy, and self-learning which along the way led to some very profound healing, transformation, and personal growth.

Cracked Ice

A bit
about my career...

After spending years in the finance industry, I decided to pursue a career as a counsellor, which allowed me to support others in their personal journeys, as I had been. After I qualified and gained experience in the charitable sector, I set up my private practice and supported others in finding the root cause of their issues.

Curiosity also led me to explore alternative healing methods and I embarked on an introductory weekend in 2018 with Brandon Bays who founded The Journey Healing Method. The Journey method is a powerful and effective set of tools to heal and transform at cellular level to achieve astounding and lasting results.

After being introduced to the Journey I enrolled in the practitioner’s programme and subsequently became an accredited Journey Practitioner. The Journey played a significant part in my own healing process and allowed me to work more deeply with others however, it felt misaligned with counselling and so attracted a different kind of client.

While I found being a counsellor fulfilling, I came to realise that I wanted to take a less restrictive approach and work with clients in a more impactful way that better aligned with my evolving self. This included my spiritual self and my abilities as a healing practitioner.

Consequently, I pursued my passion for coaching and established Soulworks. Coaching is where I am truly dedicated as it enables me to bring my whole self into helping others to heal, change, and grow.
